Megamorphosis Magazine was founded by Jenene Stafford in 2016, beginning with two digital issues. The first print issue followed in 2018. Thirteen volumes later, the magazine covers Christian media, entertainment, art, songwriters, poetry and authors pointing people to Jesus.
It started with two hashtags that carried the mission: #shareradicallove and #expectmiracles. And it started with a word from God:
Many of the people you will highlight will be unknown, but I will make them known.
That has held up. Dallas Jenkins, director of The Chosen, sat for an interview in Issue 6 in January 2019, before the series had found its audience. Jonathan Roumie, who plays Jesus, and Elizabeth Tabish, who plays Mary Magdalene, have appeared in these pages since 2018. They are a few among many.
For the first time in 9 years of ministry we’re adding our archive of articles from over 40 writers and ministry leaders. Many of these articles are appearing online for the first time, having only ever run in print. Be patient with us as we get them up because it’s a massive undertaking and we’re gathering everything up and doing our best to add the ones we feel especially are important and will bring people hope. There are miraculous testimonies and stories that we pray will bring you hope and encouragement.

Megamorphosis has always been a print magazine first. Thirteen volumes have been published, the most recent being Volume 13, Kingdom. The print editions carry photography, layout and long-form work that the website has never held.

Every issue opens with a letter from the founder. Read end to end they are the clearest record of where the magazine has been and what it was reaching for at the time — the seasons, the convictions, and the risks taken along the way. These were humble beginnings so be kind to us. We said “yes” having no idea how to design or create a magazine, but as I look back I’m proud that I said yes when it seemed impossible. I’m still saying yes even though I know the risk of being called a false prophet or a heretic and could have my intentions misunderstood, especially by those who do not know me well. But the Lord has been helping me to be more courageous and trust Him above all. I am a God-fearing woman and a Christian that has sacrificed so much to spend my life ministering to Christ and ministering to His family. In this season He is sending me on a theological, historical and ancient pilgrimage through Catholicism and Orthodox theology and looking deeply into tradition and studying the early church fathers. I am learning so much and how wrong I was about so many things and I stand in awe of God and His beauty in the process. I am being greatly humbled by my past judgments, although not lacking in love for all people. It all started with the Lord burning John 17:21 into my spirit years ago and me begging the question of Him, “how can this be possible when we are so divided?” If you ask any protestant, orthodox, non-denominational or Catholic you will discover many answers and I’m fairly certain we all think we’re right and we become extremely self-righteous and theological about it. However, from my personal point of view the answer still lies in John 17:21, we will be known by our love for each other. What I am learning is we must overcome our lack of love and our religious pride leaning towards narcissism, which we all have been guilty of if we’re honest. Are we willing to look at our internal disdain, contempt or pride in our biblical understanding or knowledge of tradition? There is faith, hope and love, but the greatest is love. Have you considered that Christ is still the Ancient of Days, His ways are not our ways and no one can understand the mind of God except for Christ. So much beauty is in the body of Christ and in these ancient traditions. God said to look for Him in these unknown, unfamiliar places and Christ is there.
