I love Baby Boomers. They are poised to make a big difference in the coming struggle in the war of Heaven’s Love. Most of them believe that they are done; that somehow God has only given them memories of how He used to move and flow with them. But they are not done. God is in this hour calling on those elders who will stand back up to take the mantle of their forefathers and foremothers to reengage, recommit and reconcile. There is a Holy tension in the air. I believe it is the Heavens and the Earth going into labor pains (Rom 8:22). There are so many alive today who have witnessed a God-breathed revival, and remember the freedom, joy, conviction, and power of God’s hand. God has them all around for the purpose of stewarding and encouraging another outpouring. I believe He is about to do it again.

I love Zoomers. Some people call them Gen Z. They are God’s answer to our prayers. They aren’t as hopeless as our media outlets and their own support systems would assert—they have a hidden fortitude and strength that is under siege by the powers of hell. They have creative and God-inspired solutions to our long-standing problems. They will die on any hill where their convictions are tested; like spiritual pit bulls, they won’t let go of what they believe is right.

For decades we prayed that God would raise up a generation that would settle for nothing less than 100% authenticity, 100% unconditional love, and 100% supernatural power. Now we have them. And God is opening up doors in our hearts and ministries we would rather stay closed. Behind those doors are the things we wink at—things that are opposed to God—things like compromise and worry and withheld love and living a life without standing in our blood-bought power and authority. God is jealous for us. He will have His Bride, all of us, in every room of His house. And He is inviting Zoomers to go with us into these same rooms. They will provoke and promote, dismantle and dislodge; chastise, and champion. We can learn from them because they are all in. Once they recognize Him as who He really is, they will follow their Lord wherever He leads. Even unto death. If we will follow the Lord into what He is doing next, we will be, once again, all in too.

Boomers and Zoomers: They have power and boldness and a love for the deep things. Both generations know what it’s like to be discouraged and discounted by their parents. Revival is in their bones, shut up like a fire. They can kindle the wettest wood of souls. They can see nothing but a living and thriving army of the Lord. They are confident He is with them, even standing in the midst of the valley of the shadow, knee-deep in dry bones.

Two generations, separated by decades, and fifty years of world triumphs and tragedies, yet both born for such a time as this. They are Finneys and Whitefields; Lakes and Wigglesworths; Howells’ and Muellers. They will change the earth. They are the answer for the other—and—the fire for the other. Is it any wonder why the enemy has been relentless to separate and estrange them from each other? Together, Boomers and Zoomers will change history. Only God would purpose to form such an unlikely alliance!

There is coming to earth the greatest generational reconciliation we have ever seen…and God is doing it. He is restoring the hearts of the grandparents to the grandchildren, and the hearts of the grandchildren to the grandparents. Right now. This most unlikely of alliances will be a prophetic foretaste of all He has planned, as He is drawing all peoples to Himself—reconciling and redeeming in the driest of places—ushering in an end-time revival that will dwarf whatever we have yet known.

Zoomers (Gen Z) want to know who they are. They want to know how to do the things everyone else takes for granted. They want to know what it’s like to be still in the secret place with The Lord. They want to know how to supernaturally forgive. They want to know how and why we value giving, serving, and honoring in the Body of Christ. They want the discipline and the reasons to study and pray, and evangelize and meet together. They are starving for lack of being stewarded. They know they need God. They want to live a supernaturally revealed life. They want to walk in the impossible, and they will give up on everything they hold dear if they can’t have all that God has prepared for them.

The prayers prayed in millions of prayer meetings and inside secret prayer closets over the last three decades were for a generation that would not settle for anything but 100% Kingdom Reality. Now we have that very generation—they need their elders to lead them, to love them, and to enjoy them.

We need to shake off the dust. Whatever keeps us from going all in must bow to the King. No more looking to our peers to see what sins we can justify entertaining. No more winking at God when He calls. If we are to lead this generation we will need to model 100% in all things eternal. Zoomers need to see us healing others and preaching the Gospel, resting in His love and walking in His power. They need to see us walking in a supernaturally revealed Heavenly momentum that smacks of deep devoted obedience and radical faith for the things of Heaven to be seen on Earth. Our preaching of resting and receiving only, has created a generation that both affirms and resents purposefully doing nothing for God, even when He asks. They need to see us model a holy, miraculous public life all the time. If we will succeed today, we will also need to learn how to Holy Hustle. The call of God today is not one of balance and sustainability. We are in the part of the race that is a sprint, not a slow burn. Believe me when I tell you this is the only way through the next wave of the Spirit.

Baby Boomers have more evangelists and miracle-workers in their ranks than we are currently seeing out here. God is calling them out into the public space today. Boomers who have deeply experienced powerful and life-altering moves of God in the past are once again being asked to step into the furnace. They will shake up the globe like they did in the eighties, excelling once again in deep agonizing prayers for the lost, and for the public preaching of the Gospel. But this time around, they have the wisdom to hold the outpouring, as well as an army of awakened youth to run and not grow faint. This unique merging of two seemingly opposing generations coming together for the sake of the Gospel will be exciting to see.

“If I were speaking to only baby boomers and zoomers, I would do whatever I could to have them lock arms and press into the battle ahead, mutually honoring and supporting each other.”

If I were speaking to only Baby Boomers and Zoomers, I would do whatever I could to have them lock arms and press into the battle ahead, mutually honoring and supporting each other. I would encourage both generations to lay down their protectives and preferences in order to see and know what the other has for them; I would ask them to be patient with each other through the love of Jesus Christ in order that the fulness of the Gospel be released; I would challenge them to receive whatever that something is as if it were being handed to them directly by the hand of their Heavenly Father.

If I have my prayers answered, in the days where my own eyes would see it, I will see indestructible love and miraculous healing proceeding from the very heart of God through a millions-strong army of old and young Christians being poured out on a broken and disillusioned world. I long to see such an interest in the things of the Kingdom, in the Bible, in the persons of Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ the Son, and God the Father, that everywhere you drive or walk or hike, the talk would once again be of the eternally relevant and weighty things. I envision studying the Bible together, praying for the sick and injured to be healed, and sharing the Gospel with people we don’t know come back to the body of Christ as regular, day-to-day kingdom living. May we pray together once again and may any church that loves God and glorifies Jesus Christ be for us Home Sweet Home once again.

I have an intense desire to experience a great outpouring of God onto His people, drawing many to Himself, and to somehow play a small part in ushering it in, stewarding and growing it. I want to forever be close to the Church because she is our Beloved’s body. No matter how off-base or out-of-order the Church might be, I want to be a strength and an encouragement all my days without scandalizing or complaining or severing from her. I want Jesus to use me in such a way that I would be blameless and without offense (Phil 1:10). That’s my desire for how He would use me.

Encouragement & invitation

Look at the deep desires He has placed in you. What makes your heart burn when you pray? What is so important that when you begin praying for it it eclipses criticizing the church? This very moment, there is an invitation––a beckoning into the depths of forgiving love and supernaturally revealed ministry by the Lover of your soul. I encourage you to look into His eyes because they are eyes of fire. His eyes burn into our hidden places—they see all. They incinerate all that is against Him or His Word. He knows all of you and yet He pursues. He will not ease off, give in, or back down from hunting every part of your heart until you are completely and rightfully His once more. His desire is for you and He asks you to join Him in reconciling the world back to Him. First, He wants to begin with reconciling you back to His joy-filled and dynamic leading––where inconvenience is once again rightly defined—opportunity and adventure.

Now, brothers and sisters…I’m going to prophesy what could be exactly what you need to hear right now: You have made decisions He never asked you to make. He wants those for His own. He wants to have your decisions back into hands once more; under His leading and care. He wants His ways to be what sets you apart. No more offense, no more mistrust, no more excuses for why you can’t obey Him. No more putting off until tomorrow. He wants you living absolutely abandoned to His extravagant invitation and ultimate Kingship.

He is at the latch. He is peering with His eyes of flame through the lattice. He is asking you to come away with Him. Even in the night, when you can’t see. He wants to accomplish all of His amazing plans and purposes with you. Will you join Him? He is bringing the light back and drawing the curtain so things will begin getting clearer. You may just wonder where you went all these years. He is healing your heart, He is so faithful. He cares for you and He knows the secret places of your heart. Now is the time to return.

My hope for His Church––turn away from withholding your love from Him. Turn away from isolation. Stop doubting Him and subtly or outright accusing Him of being unfair, untrustworthy, distant, or manipulatable. Repent. His Kingdom is nearer than before. You may have never known Him the way it’s possible to know Him. On the other side of your yes is a whole new world of grace and freedom to live and love impossibly.

He is answering your prayers, and in this very moment, know this, He just wants you back—all of you.

Eternal life starts now. Time has very little meaning except for what you choose to do with it. If you are in Christ, whatever your age, whatever your past, you will live forever in a bright and brilliant future. From today forward, it’s my prayer that you be fully convinced of what He really thinks about you and who He is calling you to be. A revival is coming and He wants to enlist you to be part of it. It’s important that we, as the Church, recognize the beauty and the potential of the current generation, and become more and more aware of the honor it is to work and play alongside our Creator. He has incredible things planned just around the corner for His sons and daughters. I’ll see you in the fray. Into the breach once more dear friends. For the glory of the Lamb, may He receive the reward of His sufferings, a united and reconciled Church, beginning with you and me. Amen.
