There is a Presence only felt by the drinking of the cup
There is no sipping
Or a mindless guzzling urge that removes this thirst
Full of hesitation and hope
The tipping of the cup satisfies the final remnants of disquiet
Born of suffering’s ache and the fear of not being enough
For I can offer only what truly resides within
And this drinking
This burden submission requires
Is my sacramental act of obedience that ushers in the Presence
